Sabino Canyon recreation area is a short drive or bike ride away. Ventana Canyon Resort is just a bit north. Take a look at the map below.

What makes Fairfield in the Foothills unique

The Fairfield community consists of 1,600 acres, with about two-thirds of that open space. The community was planned with homes lining the ridgetops of the Foothills which allows for fantastic views from most angles. This also allows for a lot of natural desert remaining which means a lot of native flora and fauna take up residence in the area.

Did I mention the views? There are unparalleled, impressive Catalina Mountain views looking north and city views toward the south.

Most homes in Fairfield in the Foothills are built of slump block masonry construction in the Territorial style. Homes typically range in size from 1300 sf to 3500 + sf. Most offer 2 car garages.

The individual neighborhoods vary with many offering low maintenance townhome lifestyle (which many part-time residents love) while other neighborhoods have single family homes on large desert lots.

History of the area

In 1928, developer John Murphey originally purchased the land that Fairfield in the Foothills occupies. Murphey is best known as the Catalina Foothills developer who hired architect Josias Joesler to design hundreds of residential and commercial buildings in the late 1920s to the mid 1950s.

In 1971, Sunrise Investment Company purchased the land and started building and development of the area. In 1976, Fairfield Communities Land Co. purchased the property and finished out the development. Fairfield Communites Land Co. was then locally known for residential building in Green Valley, Arizona, as well as resort timeshares in Little Rock, Arkansas and Tennessee.

Did you know… Parent company Fairfield Communities, Inc. was started in 1969 in Arkansas by C. Randolph Warner. Warner helped pioneer the vacation rental time share industry in 1978 in Lake Lure, North Carolina.
